Course Summary

There is no doubt that both chronic stress and traumatic stress can wreak havoc on a person's entire being. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that a person's life can be altered in significant ways when the signs and symptoms of stress are not recognized and responded to in appropriate ways. This 4-hour workshop will provide first-responders the information necessary to recognize the signs and symptoms of the job-related stress, especially as it relates to suicide, and also provide them with strategies that will enable them to provide immediate support for individuals who may be considering suicide. Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Explain the different types of stress and their impact on human systems. 2. describe both the unhealthy and healthy coping mechanisms for stress. 3. Understand how to assess for suicide and refer for additional help.
