Course Summary

This training is designed for newly assigned detectives and criminal investigators, providing a comprehensive overview of investigative techniques and steps necessary to handle a wide range of criminal incidents. Whether the case involves homicide, child death, sexual assault, property crime, or financial crime, participants will learn to apply core investigative principles and strategies that lead to successful case resolution.

Key topics include:

- Scene preservation and evidence recognition

- Application of 4th Amendment issues in investigations

- Identification, collection, and preservation of forensic and physical evidence

- Proper methods for seizing and securing evidence for laboratory examinations and database searches

Course Requirements

Special Instructions

$350 paid to the vendor. Lodging & meals may be available on a first-come first-served basis at WLEA for a total of $195. Meals only are available at WLEA at a rate of $5 per lunch or $12 per day for all meals.

 

Students must register with both the Vendor and WLEA.
