Course Summary

This course is designed for firearms instructors to become proficient with the knowledge of the basics of terminal ballistics, how bullet design has evolved over time, liability and understanding the parameters different bullets are designed for, and an understanding of what the FBI testing protocol is. The first part of this course will be conducted in the classroom by Mile High Shooting Accessories.

The second part of this course will be conducted by Mile High Shooting Accessories, on the WLEA firearms range, and will be utilizing ballistic gelatin. Mile High Shooting Accessories will be testing Hornady Critical Duty 9mm 135gr +P from a duty-sized pistol, and 9mm 124gr +P from a sub-compact pistol.  Hornady TAP .223 53gr Patrol and 55gr Urban in 16" AR and 75gr SBR in an 11.5" SBR.  6 ARC 106gr ELD-M from a 16" JP gas gun.  And .308 110gr Urban, 165gr Heavy Barrier, and 168gr ELD-M from a 16" AI bolt gun.  Attendees can bring their own department issued ammunition for Mile High Shooting Accessories to fire so they can see how it performs in relation to the Hornady. If an attendee wants to provide their department issued ammunition for testing, they would need to use their own weapon to fire the ammunition.

Additionally, if a department is running another cartridge Mile High Shooting Accessories can bring some of the Hornady line for that cartridge (.40 S&W, 10mm, .45 ACP, 6.5 Creedmoor, 300 Blackout, 300 WinMag, .338 Lapua).  If departments are still running lethal shotguns, Mile High Shooting Accessories can bring some of the Hornady TAP shotgun ammo, as well. Please reach out to John Rose at jrose@milehighshooting.com to let him know beforehand if you would like him to bring the aforementioned calibers.
