Course Summary
WASCOP Executive Director Allen Thompson will present a four-hour block of training on new laws of interest for Wyoming Law Enforcement. These laws passed during the 2026 Legislative Session and will go into effect on July 1, 2026. This training will be available in-person at WLEA and virtually via Google Meet. It is POST accredited and presented free of charge to all officers certified in Wyoming thanks to WLEA and WASCOP.
Some topics covered will include:
Legislative website usage and bill tracking, with discussions on how to offer legislative input
Child sexual exploitation laws to include stalking, grooming, and protecting children from deep fakes and exploitative images
Sexual offender and predator laws
English proficiency for commercial motor vehicle drivers
Firearms-rights restorations, CCW age requirements, prohibition on red flag gun seizures
Gambling amendments
New controlled substance laws-fentanyl, kratom
Anti-money laundering law
Theft amendments

Lodging & meals may be available on a first-come first-served basis at WLEA for a total of $65. If a student wants to stay for lunch only it will be $5.
