Acquaint the law enforcement officer with the basic body of legal knowledge that surrounds and permeates the aspects of law enforcement interrogations. Identify that the right to not incriminate oneself when being questioned by law enforcement stems from both the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and Article 1, Section 11 of the Wyoming State Constitution. Identify when a custodial interrogation is or is not taking place based on the Miranda decision and subsequent decisions of the U.S. and Wyoming Supreme Courts.
To receive Wyoming POST Credit, students must attend at least 90% of the course and actively participate.
