Working together with the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, the Academy operates the Wyoming Homeland Security Training Program through grant funding. The Program is responsible for the facilitation of training management for all Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training.
The Wyoming Homeland Security Training Program Coordinator has been appointed the State Point of Contact (SPOC) for Wyoming and schedules and coordinates DHS and FEMA awareness, operations, technical and specialized training for all first responder disciplines. As the State Point of Contact ,the coordinator is responsible for insuring that all applicants have met the required prerequisites as each course requires as well as the state selection criteria to insure that the training and those being trained are in accordance with the statewide needs and risk assessment.
The Wyoming Homeland Security Training Program also maintains the Wyoming First Responder Training database and collects training records for all recognized first responder disciplines to maintain a current resource of responders. From the training database, qualified first responders are issued the Wyoming First Responder Identification Card.
While our focus is mainly providing WMD Awareness level training for all responder disciplines, we are also active in training terrorism prevention indicators, critical incident management, personal protective equipment familiarization, NIMS and Interoperative Communications, through direct, indirect and distance learning training.
