DATE OF INCIDENT: October 12, 1981

DETAILS:  Patrolman Visser was investigating a traffic accident and was seated in his patrol car at the time in the emergency lane of Interstate 80, when a pickup truck drove into the rear of the patrol car.  Patrolman Visser suffered fatal injuries resulting from the impact.
