OFFICER: DELAVAN L. DIXON

DATE OF INCIDENT: June 4, 1996

DETAILS: Lt. Del Dixon was attending the 185th training session of the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia, representing the Rawlins Police Department.  He was participating in the physical fitness challenge known as "The Yellow Brick Road".  Del was about 300 yards away from the finish line of the 6-mile run and obstacle course when he collapsed.  Although the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team was summoned immediately and administered CPR, they were unable to revive him.  It was later determined that he died as a result of an occlusion in his heart.
