DATE OF INCIDENT:  February 20, 1992

DETAILS:  Warden Bowles left Dubois to go into the Brooks Lake area of Fremont County on snowmachine.  The purpose of the trip was to check on back country fishermen compliance with current regulations and to conduct a bighorn sheep survey for animals traditionally wintering at high elevations in this area.  While attempting to access the area his snowmobile became disabled in the soft, deep snow.  In his efforts to free the snowmobile Warden Bowles suffered a massive heart attack and died.
